Vietnam National Administration of Tourism told local media that the service should launch this June.

The cars will carry visitors to some of the city’s major tourist attractions on two routes.

The first route, Bai Chay, connects Marine Plaza, Bai Chay Tourist Boat Wharf, Bai Chay Tourism Complex, and Bai Chay Bridge.

The second route, Hon Gai, departs Vincom Halong and has stops at Halong Market 1, Bai Tho Mountain, and Quang Ninh Museum.

The service will use Japanese-made cars capable of transporting from nine to 12 passengers each and costing around USD35,000.

Fares vary from USD1 to USD3 depending on the destination.

Four other destinations in Vietnam use electric cars, namely Hanoi, Sam Son Town in north-central Thanh Hoa province, Dong Hoi in central Quang Binh province, and Cua Lo Town in central Nghe An province.
